Next, we load up the truck, and the same crew that packed your belongings and loaded your truck drives it to your new home an unloads everything. And they can unpack it too, if you desire.
Most long-distance or cross-country moving companies combine shipments from multiple customers in one large truck. Along the way, your belongings may be transferred between different trucks and crews as the load moves toward its final destination. With us, you get one crew for your entire move. We make every move simple and easy, but it can be helpful for you to know whether your move is considered local or long-distance. Your move is long distance if one of these conditions applies:
- Your new home is in the same state as your old home but they’re over 50 miles apart.
- Your new home is in a different state, even if the distance is only 5 or 10 miles.
Why does this matter? Pricing structure and insurance! No need to get into the weeds, but here’s the basic info: You pay by volume or weight + distance for long distance moves, and by the hour for local moves.
As for insurance? The most important takeaway is that maximum coverage for long distance moves is typically higher. But, between us, neither is sufficient for valuable items. If you have specific things to protect, let us know, and we’ll be happy to fill you in on your options!
